Salers are a hardy breed and are known for rapid gain. The Salers was founded as a dual purpose breed. Salers do not have genetic defects and do not have double muscling. Salers are tough cattle and can survive winter conditions in the Northern States as well as Canada. Many commercial breeders use the Salers as a cross to produce quality grade cattle.
